Mike Globlirsch, post-doctoral researcher at the University of Minnesota will give a talk he calls, The Evidence for Social Fever—You Be The Judge. In Mike's own words, "One way honey bees limit the spread of infection among nest mates is through social immunity. Social immunity is colony-level defense that results from the actions of the individuals in the colony. This month, UMN Bee Lab's Gary Reuter and Ana Heck will demonstrate how to hive a package of bees. The demonstration will be held at the bee yard behind the Bee Lab (1634 Gortner, St. Paul, MN) at 6pm, before the regular MHBA meeting. All members are welcome to attend. If you plan to attend: Bring your protective equipment. A bee veil is required.
