The demonstration will be held at the bee yard behind the Bee Lab (1634 Gortner, St. Paul, MN) at 6pm, before the regular MHBA meeting. All members are welcome to attend. If you plan to attend: Bring your protective equipment. A bee veil is required. Speaker, Dr. Elaine Evans is an extension educator at the University of Minnesota and a researcher at the University of Minnesota Bee Lab in the Department of Entomology. Her topic will be “Conserving Minnesota wild bees”. Her work focuses on conservation of native pollinators. Dustin Vanssee will share how he went from hobby beekeeper to owning his own company. Dustin is a professional beekeeper, and founder of Bare Honey. He and his partner Grace started beekeeping in 2007 while working as chefs. The couple wanted to do their part in reviving the declining bee population, while also producing honey for his locally driven menus. Eventually, their beekeeping hobby became Bare Honey.
