March 2, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm CST

$50

Get started in the fascinating world of beekeeping. This workshop will address everything you need to practice the art of beekeeping. Topics include: why bees are beneficial, basic bee biology and behavior, beekeeping equipment, selecting a site and starting a bee colony, managing honeybees throughout the year, extracting honey, preparing your hives for winter, and managing surviving colonies the following year. Participants will receive handouts of all topics covered including a list of resources, and will be able to see beekeeping equipment, and catalogs.

Presented by JoAnne Sabin, beekeeper and a member of the Minnesota Hobby Beekeepers Association (MHBA) and former Board Member of The Honey Bee Club of Stillwater.

There is a $5 discount offered for members of the co-op. Bring a lunch or buy a quick lunch from the deli at River Market across the street from class.
