The Art of Beekeeping in Northern Climates

Get started in the fascinating world of beekeeping. This workshop will address everything you need to practice the art of beekeeping. Topics include: why bees are beneficial, basic bee biology and behavior, beekeeping equipment, selecting a site and starting a bee colony, managing honey bees throughout the year, extracting honey, preparing your hives for winter, and managing surviving colonies the following year. This course is taught by JoAnne Sabin, University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener, and is free and open to the public. 2-part program: February 8 & 9 (Friday 5:00pm - 9:00pm and Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm).
Lunch on Saturday may be purchased on site for $5 or you may bring your own lunch.
