March Member Meeting
March 12, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm CDT
Mike Globlirsch, post-doctoral researcher at the University of Minnesota will give a talk he calls, The Evidence for Social Fever—You Be The Judge.
In Mike's own words, "One way honey bees limit the spread of infection among nest mates is through social immunity. Social immunity is colony-level defense that results from the actions of the individuals in the colony. I will present findings from experiments I conducted on social fever, a form of social immunity, where bees raise the nest temperature in response to chalkbrood exposure to limit the effects on brood."
