Our speaker this month is Dr. Eva Reinicke, and the topic is 'Beekeeping from a Veterinary Perspective'.
Dr. Reinicke grew up on a small organic farm in central New York State. Her family kept a menagerie of farm animals as well as several hives of bees for pollination and honey production. She started helping with farm work and beekeeping as a child and that passion grew into a career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Eva attended undergraduate school at Earlham College in Indiana and got her veterinary degree at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. While in veterinary school she took a class that incorporated beekeeping and veterinary medicine and that sparked her interest in starting a beekeeping veterinary service. During studies in Thailand she even got a chance to visit several commercial apiaries and learn more about beekeeping overseas. She is passionate about working with pollinators and assisting in the management and control of bee diseases. Dr. Eva enjoys working with beekeepers to better understand and serve hobby farmers and commercial operations alike.
