Welcome to The Minnesota Hobby Beekeepers Association

The Minnesota Hobby Beekeepers Association is a non profit organization that exists to exchange ideas and experiences about beekeeping. We are generally hobby beekeepers with some sideline beekeepers. Most of our membership lives around the Minneapolis and St. Paul area in Minnesota, but we have members from out state Minnesota and the surrounding states. We all enjoy beekeeping to the extent that we are not frightened too much by the challenges that impact beekeeping today.

We meet on the second
Tuesday of each month (except December and January). Most meetings are at the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota (Looking for Gary Reuter? Click here).

The MHBA is sponsoring a Youth Beekeeping Scholarship, click for details!

Minneapolis Honeybee Ordinance
David Nicholson continues to work on repealing the Minneapolis ban on keeping honeybees in the city. If you live in Minneapolis or know someone who lives in Minneapolis and support the change in ordinance, send him an e-mail with your name and address to be presented to the city council. He can be contacted at mplsbeelaw@gmail.com
.

The MHBA staffs a daily demonstration at the Minnesota State Fair on the technique of honey extraction. We also contribute, by entering our honey, to the fantastic competitive display of Minnesota honeys that are entered at the fair.
Check us out the Minnesota State Fair.
